SEVI Exceptional Botanic started in October 2016 when the first plants of oregano, sage and rosemary were planted just outside of Drama in Ano Pyxari, in a cluster of settlements, in the village of Teichos. In the following years, plants of mountain tea, thyme, thrush, mint, honeysuckle, lovage and chamomile were established. A total of 15 acres of aromatic and medicinal plants are cultivated.
Thyme is a traditional herb of Greek nature.
The word "Thymus" comes from the ancient Greek word thymos which means courage. It is a perennial, evergreen shrub 20-30 cm tall with woody branches. Dry and fresh thyme is widely used in cooking.
Thymol which is the main component of thyme essential oil is used in medicine as a mild antiseptic.
It is extremely antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and tonic properties.
