Lemon Verbena gives a lemony aroma where used and goes wonderfully with fish, chicken, salads, soups and marinades. We can also use it in various sweets as well as refreshing sorbets, ice creams, fruit salads and drinks. Finally, we must not forget that we can add it together with other herbs to various teas instead of lemon and also make a wonderful calming tea from it together with a little honey or milk.
Traditionally, Lemon Verbena is used as a decoction to combat indigestion, stomachache, diarrhea and colitis.
It can help with migraines and bad breath. It is an excellent sedative and has antioxidant properties which, combined with its lemony taste, gives us a wonderful tea for the evening.
Lemon Verbena is a herb that comes from South America and was brought, along with others, by the Spanish to Europe at the end of the 17th century. Its name comes from the then Queen of Spain Maria Luisa of Parma. In Greece, the plant thrived, as a result of which it is particularly widespread at the moment.
